Chapter 12: Killing Errors: Accuracy and Consistency

Find Your Missing Guardrails

Describe a process step by step and let The Pessimist loose: every way it can fail, and the gate, alert, or audit point that catches each one before the client does.

The Pessimist

Write the guardrails first. Describe one of your processes below, step by step in plain English, one step per line - the way you would explain it to a new hire. Then let The Pessimist loose: it will tell you everywhere the process is going to break, and the guardrail that catches each failure before it moves on.
